Famous Islam critic stabbed in live broadcast

Foreign. Known Islam critic Michael Stürzenberger and several others have been injured after an attack on a square in the city of Mannheim in Germany, German media reports.

A video of the attack that has spread on social media shows how a knifeman attacks and stabs several people in the square, where the Islamophobic association BPE was meeting.

A police officer who intervenes is stabbed from behind in the neck, and soon after the perpetrator is shot by another policeman.

The policeman is badly injured according to Mannheimer Morgen.

Even Michael Stürzenberger, known from, among other things, the Islam-critical movement Pegida, was injured. His condition is unclear.

Immigration critic Martin Sellner spreads a picture that he states shows how one of the critics of Islam who intervened against the knifeman is handcuffed by the police. According to Sellner, the police had previously prevented the man from helping Stürzenberger.
