Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra gets better telephoto lens and ultra-wide-angle camera

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will reportedly retain four rear cameras, two of which will be upgraded. The telephoto lens with 3x zoom and the ultra-wide-angle camera are said to each have a resolution of 50 megapixels in the new Ultra model.

These claims are made by leaker Ice Universe on the Chinese social medium Weibo. The leaker states that there are again four cameras on the back, while other rumors speak of three cameras. According to Ice Universe, the 200-megapixel main camera and the telephoto lens with 5x zoom with 50-megapixel resolution remain the same as in the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Since the Galaxy S21 Ultra from 2021, Samsung has been using a 3x zoom camera of 10 megapixels. . The upgrade to 50 megapixels would enable pixel binning, which, among other things, ensures better photos in low-light situations. The higher resolution of the zoom camera also ensures a smaller difference between the 3x and 5x zoom.

The upgrade to a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera should ensure that Samsung's top model is more in line with smartphones such as the Google Pixel 8 Pro and Xiaomi 14 series. That of the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a resolution of 12 megapixels.
