Hanna Stjärne quits as CEO of SVT

Media. At the turn of the year, Hanna Stjärne leaves SVT to take over as CEO of the Nobel Foundation. This is announced by SVT today.

Hanna Stjärne has been CEO of SVT since 2015 and has previously had a long series of managerial assignments at Sveriges Radio and UNT.< /p>

– I am grateful to have been able to lead SVT during these special years. It has been challenging, amazing and I have enjoyed every day of work. It is of course sad to leave all of Sweden's television and I will miss all the smart, creative and driven colleagues I have had the privilege of working with. But I am going to a new exciting and important assignment and I know that SVT is well equipped for the future. SVT reaches almost the entire population every week and has a very high and stable level of trust among the Swedish people, says Hanna Stjärne in a press release.

The number of SVT newsrooms around Sweden has almost doubled under Hanna Stjärne's leadership to 50 pieces and SVT has received a new form of financing.

– Hanna Stjärne has led SVT with courage and determination. She has played a decisive role in a turning point for SVT, with powerful digitization, international competition and a serious security situation. Wisely and with foresight, she and her colleagues have ensured that SVT Play has by a large margin become Sweden's most used and appreciated streaming service and that SVT's news operations have reached a new level for all generations. When she has now decided to move on to another assignment, she leaves an SVT that stands strong. I would have liked to see her continue as CEO for longer, but I have great respect for her decision, says SVT's board chairman Christina Björklund.

Hanna Stjärne will continue to lead SVT until she starts at the Nobel Foundation in January. In her new job, she will be responsible for the Nobel Foundation and the activities surrounding the Nobel Prize, in Sweden and internationally.
