BASE will launch a fixed internet and TV subscription throughout Belgium through parent company Telenet on June 3. It is also possible to take out subscriptions for internet and TV separately. Until now, BASE was only active in the mobile market.
According to BASE, there are two subscriptions for fixed internet. With the cheapest subscription of 27 euros per month, users get a usage limit of 300GB. This subscription offers download speeds of up to 50Mbit/s and upload speeds of 5Mbit/s. When users reach the limit, they can purchase an additional 25GB in increments of 5 euros. There is also a subscription with unlimited data for 40 euros per month. This formula offers 200Mbit/s download and 20Mbit/s upload speeds.
There are also two formulas for TV. The cheapest subscription costs 10 euros per month. For this purpose, users only receive the app. A decoder is included for 15 euros per month. Both subscriptions offer access to 28 channels. Both formulas also allow you to record and pause programs. The existing mobile subscriptions will not be adjusted.
Telenet already offered internet and TV in Flanders and Brussels. BASE will now also offer internet and TV in Wallonia. In Flanders, two-thirds of the Brussels municipalities and a small part of Wallonia, BASE will use the Wyre network to offer the services. Wyre is a joint venture between Telenet and utility company Fluvius. The VOO/Orange Belgium network will be used in the remaining Brussels municipalities and most of Wallonia. The BASE formulas offer a cheaper alternative to Telenet's own services in Flanders and Brussels. The company will also compete with Digi, a new budget provider that will enter the market later this year.
