The Dutch House of Representatives wants the return of electricity by private individuals to not cost money at a time when there is a lot of supply. Energy suppliers may continue to charge a feed-in fee.
The law now states that customers receive a 'reasonable compensation' and a majority of the factions in the House of Representatives now want that reasonable compensation not to be negative, writes NOS based on a debate in the House of Representatives. The coalition parties PVV, VVD, NSC and BBB support that plan.
Under that proposal, the fixed feed-in tariff that energy companies require can be maintained, but the rates per kWh of electricity may never be negative. The coalition parties want to prevent private individuals from switching off solar panels during sunny moments. It is unknown whether this plan will become law and if so, when that will happen. The coalition parties want to abolish the netting scheme for solar panels from 2027.
