Some Dutch companies have banned meetings in the car

Some large Dutch companies have a ban on digital meetings in the car, but others do not. This is evident from a tour by the NOS. Digital meetings are allowed, provided the telephone is in a holder.

Many companies do not have a specific policy for meetings in the car, NOS reports. At Heineken, for example, digital meetings from the car are specifically prohibited, and at Shell, Unilever and FrieslandCampina, among others, hands-free calling in the car has been banned for some time. Other companies expect colleagues to speak to each other about unsafe behavior or expect the camera to be turned off, for example.

Last month it turned out that one in five motorists sometimes meets in traffic. Calling, texting and operating navigation, among other things, happen more often while driving. The idea is that digital meetings distract drivers and therefore possibly lead to accidents. There is no specific legislation against smartphone use in traffic. Motorists are not allowed to hold their phones in their hands while driving; use in a holder is permitted.
