Xiaomi has released an Aqara wall socket with Zigbee and Matter support, among other things. The socket is for the European region and has a face of 55x55mm. The device can, among other things, measure electricity consumption.
Home automation manufacturer Aqara calls the device the Wall Outlet H2 EU. This is a wall socket for European electrical appliances. Users can link these to home automation ecosystems via Zigbee 3.0 or with Matter. The socket has a 55x55mm cover plate and, according to Aqara, also fits on fronts of well-known brands such as Schneider Merten and Atlas.
The Wall Outlet H2 has various options to control the devices connected to it. For example, users can set the device to automatically turn off when it detects a certain energy use, between 100 and 3840 watts. There is also an auto-off function whereby the socket no longer supplies power if consumption falls below 2W for a certain period of time. This is intended for, for example, devices that charge overnight.
The socket also has a memory module with which a certain status of a device is remembered in the event of a power failure, for example. There is an LED on the front panel that can be programmed to display a status, for example.
The wall socket costs 40 euros. The device is available at several Dutch online stores.
Update: Adjusted that the device is also for sale in Dutch online stores.
