It was on April 10 that Mikael Janicki, 39 , was shot dead at an underpass in Skärholmen after speaking out against a gang.

Now the Södertörn district court has decided to arrest 18-year-old Mohammed Mohammed for the murder.

Mohammed Mohammed was barely detained a week after the murder of Mikael in another case, suspected of kidnapping and attempted murder in connection with a boy under the age of 18 being shot in Skärholmen in December 2023.

He turned 18 in May – i.e. shortly after the murder – and can therefore count on a very generous penalty discount. Because Mohammed, who comes from Iraq, has received Swedish citizenship, he cannot be deported under current legislation.

Two other teenagers from the immigrant gang have already been detained in the case regarding the murder of Mikael, suspected of grossly protecting a criminal. A third is in custody on suspicion of serious weapons offences.

Prosecution must be brought by 19 June 2024 at the latest.

The murder in Skärholmen
