Belgian providers take almost 100 websites with illegal football streams offline

Several Belgian providers have blocked various websites showing illegal streams of football matches. Owner Eleven and parent company DAZN wanted to enforce this through a lawsuit and a Belgian corporate court agreed.

Telenet, Proximus and Orange Belgium, among others, have blocked about a hundred websites on which the streams could be viewed, reports VRT. “These sites hack the signal of the matches and then broadcast it illegally. The Dutch-speaking corporate court in Brussels has now ruled that this is not possible,” said Telenet.

Eleven/DAZN is the owner of the broadcasting rights for Belgian football, including the Jupiler Pro League. To combat illegal streams, the company filed a lawsuit and the rights holder was successful.
