Western Digital has provided several versions of portable HDDs with a new variant with 6TB of storage space. This concerns the My Passport and WD_Black series. The SanDisk Professional G-Drive is also released as a 6TB version.
Western Digital says these are the same variants of existing portable drives, but alongside 1TB versions, 2TB, 4TB and 5TB, a drive with 6TB storage is now added. This concerns both the WD My Passport with a Micro-B connection and the WD My Passport Ultra with USB-C connection. A For Mac version of both variants will also be released with both a USB-A and a USB-C connection with an adapter that works on macOS.
A 6TB version of the WD_Black will also be released P10 Game Drive, which with its appearance is mainly aimed at gamers. Finally, WD is releasing a new version of the G-Drive ArmorATD under the SanDisk name, which is intended for users who take the drive with them on the road and which has a rugged housing that can absorb more shocks.
< p>It is the first time in almost five years that WD has released new variants with more storage capacity in the My Passport line. The company last upgraded in 2019; then My Passport HDDs with 5TB of storage were released.
