The purpose of the visit, which would have taken place on Friday, was to discuss security issues with local residents and police.
According to the Liberals, Pehrson's safety could not be guaranteed during the visit, which was the reason why the event was canceled at short notice.
– It is true that Johan Pehrson had a planned visit last night which was canceled after dialogue with the relevant authorities. We received information via Säpo. The explanation we received is that his safety could not be guaranteed during the visit, says the Liberals' press service to Expressen.
Säpo has declined to give details of the basis for their assessment or to discuss specific security measures for protected persons. Police Region West states that they were not involved in the decision to call off the security walk.
