Game publisher Activision has formed a new studio called Elsewhere Entertainment. The studio will mainly work on 'games where the story is central'. The studio's headquarters will be located in the Polish capital Warsaw.
Activision writes in a short statement that the studio includes developers who have worked on The Last of Us, Uncharted, The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, among others. , Destiny, Tom Clancy's The Division and Far Cry.
The new studio is independent, but according to the publisher, has 'full access to Activision's resources and tools as it works to increase its production capacity' . Activision says the studio is 'hard at work' developing a story-driven game in an entirely new franchise.
The creation of Elsewhere Entertainment follows shortly after a round of layoffs at Activision Blizzard, which was brought in by owner Microsoft. There were also layoffs at Starfield and Elder Scrolls maker Bethesda. At the beginning of May, Microsoft also announced that Tango Gameworks, which created the rhythm game Hi-Fi Rush, and Redfall studio Arkane Austin would be closed.
