Meta is testing 'pinned columns' that allow Instagram Threads users to view different feeds in one screen. This overview function is comparable to the former TweetDeck. It is not known when the company will make the feature available to all users.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shows what the pinned columns look like in a post on Threads. The screen includes his For You feed and various topic-specific feeds. Zuckerberg writes that the function is currently being tested. The platform confirms to Engadget that the function is being tested among a limited group of users. The page currently supports a maximum of one hundred columns, but that may change, according to a company spokesperson.
The functionality is very similar, both visually and in terms of options, to TweetDeck, which was a function of the former Twitter to display feeds insight via a central dashboard. Meta released Threads in the summer of 2023 as an alternative to what was then called X. During the same period, X and owner Elon Musk received a lot of criticism for the drastic changes to the platform. One of those changes was requiring a paid X subscription to use TweetDeck, which has since been officially called X Pro.
