He continued:

– You have been spreading terrible hatred for several years. You hated people voting for us so much that you hunted us like wild animals. This is the fruit of your labor. The Prime Minister is fighting for his life because of you.

He noted that “liberal media” have whipped up hatred against Fico because of his commitment to nationalist politics and his desire to end the war in Ukraine through a negotiated ceasefire.< /p>

The country's interior minister, Miinister Sutaj Estok, says the constant attacks on Fico by the media and opposition helped fuel the climate that led to the assassination attempt, including the use of dehumanizing language.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico was shot outside on Wednesday afternoon with several shots and his injuries are life-threatening. A 71-year-old man described as a left-liberal activist and writer has been arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder.
