Microsoft introduces new Outlook features to combat spam

Microsoft is adding new anti-spam features to its Outlook email service. These make it easier to recognize phishing emails and block senders. The functions will be made available to users in phases.

Microsoft will now display the email address of senders more prominently within the spam email folder, the tech giant has announced. That should make it easier to recognize fake emails. Currently, users still have to click on the email or move the mouse over the name to view the sender's email address. This is now shown directly on the page.

The company will also warn Outlook users if they open a link from an email in the spam folder. The service will also have an option that allows users to simultaneously report a spam message and immediately block the sender, so that they no longer receive emails from the email address in question. The company will also warn more clearly about unverified senders and possible spoofing.
