Google has shown Project Astra, a prototype of glasses with a camera, microphone and speaker. Using generative AI, it can have conversations and answer questions about the environment and what can be seen in it.
Google has not disclosed details of the glasses that Google has developed for Project Astra. It comes from the company's DeepMind division. The intention is to create an 'agent', an AI system that can handle a combination of various inputs and works seamlessly on various systems.
The demonstration video showed, among other things, a telephone with a camera image in which the assistant answered questions. This included objects, but also visible code in the image. According to Google, the demonstration was not cut and was real time.
These are projects, elements of which may be included in Google services in the future. Whether and when Google would like to release the glasses is unknown. The glasses are reminiscent of those of Meta and Ray-Ban, which also have a camera and can apply image recognition.
