Ubisoft has officially announced Assassin's Creed Shadows. Set in feudal Japan, it follows the battle between ninjas and samurai. The game will be released on November 15 for consoles and PC.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is set in the sixteenth century, during the late Sengoku period in Japan. Ubisoft writes that that period is known for its political tumult, warfare and “dramatic social reforms.” The game is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec, which announced the game with a cinematic trailer, but has not yet shared any gameplay footage. Ubisoft says it will reveal the game's gameplay next month.
The game follows two different playable characters, each with a different play style. Naoe is a shinobi. According to Ubisoft's product page, that character is mainly focused on stealth with smoke bombs, shuriken and more. Yasuke is a samurai, who is more skilled at fighting. He has, among other things, katanas, kanabos and bows at his disposal. The two characters' stories are intertwined, according to Ubisoft. They offer two different perspectives on the famous Japanese daimyo Oda Nobunaga, reports the developer.
Ubisoft will release Assassin's Creed Shadows on November 15. The game will then be released for the PS5, Xbox Series X and S, Amazon Luna, Macs with Apple Silicon socks via the Mac App Store and PCs via the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store. Ubisoft does not mention a release on Steam in its press release.
