Astra Zeneca states that it is only for commercial reasons that the vaccine is taken removed from the market, writes SVT Nyheter.

The vaccine has previously been in the spotlight due to a fatal side effect that causes blood clots in combination with low platelets.

The side effects have been linked to at least 81 deaths in Great Britain and several hundred serious injuries. In 2021, Astra Zeneca was sued in the UK after a woman who had received the vaccine died in March of that year.

In March 2021, Sweden paused the use of Astra Zeneca's vaccine due to the reports of serious side effects. In July of the same year, the Public Health Authority decided to completely stop using the vaccine.

The pharmaceutical giant admitted in February this year for the first time in legal documents that the vaccine can cause dangerous side effects. Despite this, Astra Zeneca maintains that the decision to withdraw the vaccine has no connection to the litigation or the consent.

In a statement, Astra Zeneca emphasizes that it is “extremely proud of the role that the vaccine played in fighting the global the pandemic”.
