Marie -Thérèse Kaiser, 27, is sentenced by a court in Lower Saxony for having “incited hatred” against Afghans.

She must pay 6,000 euros in daily fines.

The case is about a post as Marie-Thérèse Kaiser wrote on social media in August 2021 in which she asked, among other things, whether there was a “welcoming culture for gang rape?” The background was news that 200 Afghans would move to Hamburg.

Kaiser protested this decision through his statistics, describing his concerns about immigration and the risk of rape from “culturally alien masses”. She linked to an article that showed that Afghans in Germany are particularly prone to gang rape.

That the AFD politician supported his arguments on official government statistics did not matter in the context.

The case has attracted international attention and on X, several major international accounts have reacted to the news of the verdict, including owner Elon Musk.

Marie-Thérèse Kaiser herself wrote like this on X before the verdict came:

“Just mentioning numbers, dates and facts are considered criminal, because the establishment does not want to face reality. I will not be silenced.”
