Dutch start-up Innovation In Motion for smart curtains is closing down

The Dutch start-up Innovation In Motion is closing down. According to co-founder Kai Beetstra, the company has more outstanding debts with the Tax Authorities than income and can no longer have new products made.

Beetstra says in a video message that Tweakers was able to view, that the company has in recent weeks and months tried to process the remaining customer orders, but that is now coming to an end. It is not clear how customers who recently ordered a Slide system and have not yet received it will get their money back.

Beetstra would make some adjustments to the Slide app so that customers can use their IoT curtain systems can continue to use the company cloud even without it. The co-founder says that it has recently also become possible to have the Apple HomeKit and Homey integration function locally. He refers to efforts by certain community members. The integration with ifttt and Google Home will soon cease to function, because these features would require a connection to the cloud.

The Slide is an IoT curtain system from smart home start-up Innovation In Motion from Amsterdam . The product was introduced in 2016 through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter and reached its goal in two days. The product was also for sale via the company's webshop at the end of 2019, where it cost 299 euros. The Slide has a 12V motor and a coupling system that is attached to an existing curtain rail. The system can be controlled with an app to open or close curtains.
