The Ukrainian president went on to refer to God as an “ally” who would guarantee Ukraine's victory in the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Zelensky made the statement while Ukraine is conducting a large-scale retreat in the Donbass, where a Russian offensive is also underway.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zacharova commented on the statement on on Sunday, saying that the Ukrainian leader had apparently lost touch with reality and that his perceived alliance with God could only be due to his “doping too much”.
