When Dwight Eisenhower was president of the United States in 1954, over a million immigrants were sent out as part of “Operation Wetback”.

Donald Trump is now hinting that he wants to carry out a similar but larger-scale operation, writes the New York Post.

According to Trump's election campaign, it is necessary to capture and deport upwards of 20 million illegal immigrants who are believed to be in the United States.

– There are probably between 15 and 20 million, considering the number people we've seen coming in lately,” says Eric Ruark, director of research at the NumbersUSA think tank, to the New York Post.

Illegal immigration to the United States has reached historic record levels lately.

Before in the 2016 presidential election, Donald Trump promised that he would build a wall against Mexico, which, however, never happened. However, the ex-president himself has subsequently claimed that the wall has already been built.
