Sony removes PSN obligation for PC version Helldivers 2

There will be no update for Helldivers 2, which will require PC players to create a PlayStation Network account. Sony PlayStation confirmed this on X. The company says it has listened to player feedback.

PlayStation writes in a post on X that the May update for Helldivers 2 will not be rolled out. The company thanks players for the feedback and promises to keep the community informed of future plans. It is not clear whether there will be an obligation at a later date.

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced in early May that Helldivers 2 PC gamers will have to link their Steam account to a PlayStation Network account. This measure would become mandatory and came into effect on May 6. By June 4, all Helldivers 2 PC gamers were required to have their accounts linked to PSN in order to continue playing. Sony wanted to better protect gamers against the misconduct of some players, but the decision met with a lot of resistance from Helldivers 2 players. Last weekend it was also announced that Sony would launch the third-person shooter in 177 different countries. Steam had removed. In these countries it is not possible to officially create a PSN account. It is not clear whether Helldivers 2 will be available again in the Steam store of these countries soon.
