SD leader Jimmie Åkesson has been accused of being controlled by Putin after saying that there is “an upper limit” to how much support Sweden can give to Ukraine.

During the party leader debate in Agenda on Sunday evening, Magdalena Andersson (S) said that Åkesson “sounds like the Russian propaganda apparatus “.

Åkesson underlined that Sweden must continue to “send lots” to Ukraine.

– We must continue to support Ukraine as much as we can. But when you claim that there is no upper limit then you are lying. Every support package like this is weighed against our own needs, he said and continued:

– Honestly Magdalena Andersson, stop playing political theater. If there is something that plays into Putin's hands, it is what you and your friends are doing now, namely pretending that there is a split on this issue in Sweden. It does not. There is no division.

Jimmie Åkesson added:

– I said as recently as yesterday that I am prepared to put the entire aid budget towards support in Ukraine. That's over 50 million. How much are you prepared to add to Ukraine? Where is your upper limit?
