Economics. Horticultural companies testify to death threats and harassment and have been forced to ration the sale of tubers to stop speculation in dahlias – a garden plant that has sparked something like a new tulip craze.

Linnea Boqvist at the company Dahlias by Linn has soon sold out of her stock of 120,000 tubers this year, and the most sought-after varieties have long since run out.
Boqvist tells Dagens Industri that people buy up everything and resell on Tradera for much more money, and that the company therefore set a ration of two dahlias per customer for the most sought-after varieties.
Many Swedes buy for a lot of money and when they don't get their tubers in time, they threaten to kill the staff, writes Dagens Industri.
– It's almost life and death with these dahlias. Sometimes I wonder if it's pension money or the children's savings people are shopping for, says Linnea Boqvist to the newspaper.
