Russian “Nato exhibition” showcases trophies from Ukraine

Foreign. In a new exhibition in Moscow, the Kremlin is displaying heavy Western weapons taken from Ukrainian forces, AP reports.

It's the Russian the Ministry of Defense behind the exhibition, which opened on Wednesday at a World War II memorial in western Moscow.

Here, visitors can among other things view 30 different types of Western heavy equipment, including a US-made M1 Abrams tank, a Bradley fighting vehicle, a Leopard 2 tank, a Marder armored personnel carrier from Germany and a French-made AMX-10RC armored vehicles. Everything seized during the Ukrainian war.

At the exhibition, which will be open for a month, there are also firearms and various types of documents.

The exhibition comes as Russian forces have taken more ground in eastern Ukraine and taken advantage of delays in US military support to Kiev to push back the underarmed Ukrainian forces, AP writes.

Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov praises The Moscow exhibition as a “brilliant idea”.

– The trophy exhibition will arouse great interest among Moscow residents, guests of our city and all residents of the country. We should all look at the ill-fated equipment of the enemy, he says.

Russian military bloggers draw parallels between the event and exhibitions of captured Nazi military equipment held by the Soviet Union during and after World War II.

The Russian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Maria Zacharova says that foreign diplomats based in Moscow should take the opportunity to visit the exhibition to see how “the West is destroying world peace”.

– This exhibition will be interesting to all those who still believe in mythical ” Western values” or who fail to notice the aggression unleashed by NATO against Russia and our people, Zacharova said according to AP.
