Apple seems to mainly source its staff for its Vision Lab in the Swiss capital Zurich from Google, according to an analysis by Financial Times. Google employs three times as many people as other companies.

About 10 employees come from Amazon, Microsoft and Netflix, while about 35 come from Google, FT reports. There is probably a lot of supply from Google employees, because the company has been investing heavily in AI for years. Employees can also know each other and bring each other to Apple.

The Vision Lab in Zurich, the existence of which Apple acknowledges in vacancy texts, is said to have been created after the takeover of two Swiss AI companies. According to a job description from Apple, the Vision Lab is working on personas for Apple's Vision Pro headset and on features such as Memojis and Facetime Eye Contact. “Because we integrate closely with the hardware platform and even influence its design, we can build products that are extremely fast, energy efficient and accurate.”
