Google Play Store allows simultaneous downloads on app installations

The Google Play Store has started allowing multiple simultaneous downloads when installing apps. This is not yet the case with updates.

These involve two simultaneous downloads, a third is still not possible, writes 9to5Google. Since the beginning of the Play Store and the Android Market before it, it was only possible to perform one download at a time. The rest remains 'pending' until it is the turn of those apps.

The intervention currently only applies to new app installations. Updates to apps, which are much more common, are currently being done one at a time. Whether and when they can be used with several at the same time is unknown.
