A Södertälje man is charged with strangling a nine-year-old to death

Domestic. A 46-year-old man with an immigrant background is charged today with the murder of a nine-year-old boy in Södertälje.

On January 8, a boy was found seriously injured in an apartment in Rosenlund in Södertälje. The boy died as a result of the injuries and the boy's father was arrested on suspicion of murder.

According to the indictment, the 46-year-old killed his son by strangling him to death with his arms.

The man has undergone a forensic psychiatric examination and is judged to be suffering from a serious mental disorder.

The defendant has admitted to the crime during questioning and the preliminary investigation has given a clear picture of the course of events, according to the prosecutor.

– It is about an extremely tragic event in which a child lost his life. Based on what emerged during the preliminary investigation, it was not possible to foresee that something like this could happen, says Chamber prosecutor Anna Lapinska.
