The New York Supreme Court on Thursday overturned the controversial verdict against Weinstein that came four years ago, in which the mogul was convicted of having sex with several women who were in pursuit of a career in Hollywood.

The verdict sentenced Weinstein to a total of 23 years in prison for, among other things, taking advantage of his position to give a woman oral sex.

However, according to the Supreme Court, the judge presiding over the first trial committed “extremely” improper violations in order to able to bring down the mogul. Among other things, the judge allowed women who were not parties to the case to be questioned before the jury about Harvey Weinstein's alleged past sexual behavior.

On Friday, Weinstein was taken to hospital and according to his lawyer Arthur Aidala, the former mogul is now in such bad condition physical condition that he needs constant care.

– He has several problems and needs all kinds of tests. He is something of a wreck in terms of health, Aidala told AP.

During the so-called #Metoo era, Aidala stated that prison staff, among other things, limited Weinstein's access to water and denied him toilet visits. During that period, among other things, he lost four teeth in prison, according to the defense.

However, Aidala tells the AP that there is nothing wrong with Weinstein's mental health and that he is “sylvan” intellectually.
