Proximus connected 44,000 new fiber optic connections in the previous quarter. The Belgian provider has now connected a total of 441,000 households to a fiber optic line. The company also gained a large number of customers, both for mobile subscriptions and fixed home subscriptions.
The Belgian provider writes in the presentation of its quarterly figures that it recorded 36 percent more so-called ' installed fiber in the street connections. That was 44,000, meaning the company had installed 441,000 activated fiber optic lines at the end of March this year.
The number of Proximus subscribers also grew. The number of customers with a mobile subscription grew by 21,000 and the number of people with a fixed internet subscription at home by 12,000. The number of customers with a 'convergent subscription' also grew; these are customers with a combination of fixed internet and television. That was 17,000 more in the first three months of this year than last year.
Proximus' turnover increased by 4.5 percent, partly due to these new subscribers. Sales increased by 6.5 percent for customers with a home connection and by 2.7 percent for business connections. The company achieved a quarterly turnover of 1.2 billion euros. The umbrella Proximus Group, which also includes Flitsmeister and Telesign, achieved a total turnover of more than 1.5 billion.
