“This is what we would needed when we were new to Sweden,” reads the title of the open letter.

The women, who are all “conversation leaders” at the Rädda Barnens ungdomsförbund, list various demands they place on Sweden.

p>They write that when they themselves came to the country they were met by “schools with prejudice, exclusion and rigid unfair systems”.

Immigrants are met in schools “by staff who segregate us from other students and who let prejudice rule”, they complain.

In addition to more resources for student health and teachers to support immigrants, the debaters also demand “meeting places and support for activities”.

A further demand is for “equal opportunities and fair assessments”.

“We have also met teachers and study and vocational guidance counselors who only tell us about practical high school courses, who question our ambitions, and who favor ethnically Swedish students”, writes the immigrant group and continues:< /p>

“We don't need prejudice and reduction, we need fair assessments, flexibility, encouragement, and understanding that it takes longer to study when it's not in our home languages.”
