Foreign. The attempt to impeach Alejandro Mayorkas, the US Secretary of Homeland Security, is blocked by the Senate by a vote of 51-49.

Republicans in the House of Representatives began impeachment proceedings, alleging that Alejandro Mayorkas deliberately and systematically failed to secure the United States' southern border with Mexico.
During the past year, illegal immigration across the border has reached an all-time high.

Democrats, who have a majority in the Senate, however, as expected, drop the charges against Mayorkas citing that it lacks foundation.
Alejandro Mayorkas has previously met criticism by referring to the fact that his relatives died in the Holocaust. Before becoming a minister, he served on the board of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), an organization that works to increase Third World immigration to the United States.
