Instagram is working on a chatbot for influencers. This can partly automate the many answers to questions from followers, reports The New York Times. The company trains the chatbot on the influencer's language.
The chatbot can then provide answers for the influencer in DMs and later also in comments, reports The New York Times. The newspaper has heard about the plans from five sources, even though Meta has not released anything about it yet. The company has been doing its best for the past year and a half to use generative AI in many ways in its apps and services. It will say that these are AI-generated answers.
Influencers have their reservations about the plan, according to the newspaper. Among other things, they are concerned that the chatbot generates answers that they do not agree with. Others have doubts that a chatbot can replace interactions with fans, due to the lack of contact with a human. As a result, it is unknown whether influencers are waiting for it. Many large accounts hire people to answer messages on behalf of the influencer.
