Western Digital will release an SD card with 4TB of storage next year. The SanDisk Extreme Pro SDUC 4TB has an Ultra High Speed-I interface and can reach maximum speeds of 104MB/s. The price and exact availability are not yet known.

Western Digital announced the card during a conference. As far as we know, it is the first SD card with such a storage capacity to become commercially available, although that will not happen until 2025.

The card has a total of 4 terabytes of storage capacity and supports, among other things, the Secure Digital Ultra Capacity standard. The card also uses the UHS-I interface, which has a maximum read speed of 104MB/s. For the time being, the company does not mention which NAND the card uses and does not provide any further specifications. Previous high-space cards, such as the SanDisk Extreme Pro SDXC, also have such an interface, but they also use the DDR200/DDR208 mode, which increases the maximum read speed to 170MB/s. It is not inconceivable that this mode will also be incorporated into the new card and that the actual read speed of the 4TB card will therefore be higher.

The price of the card is not known. It is also not clear when exactly the card will be released for general commercial use next year.
