A group of former Google Deepmind developers released the beta version of its AI music tool Udio on Wednesday. By entering prompts, users can generate music tracks themselves.

The developers show what their tool can do on the social media platform X. The app allows users to create tracks 'in their favorite musical styles'. Udio can also generate vocals in several languages, including Japanese and Russian. To create a track, the user first types in a prompt, similar to the Suno music tool. Based on this, Udio creates two different tracks. The user can then continue working with the track, for example by adding lyrics or more tags.

The tool is currently free and users can create up to 1200 tracks per month. For now, the developers are mainly working on improving the sound quality and adding more languages. Over time, more tools will also become available to musicians, including the ability to easily add external tracks.
