Microsoft seems to want to show offers for apps in the 'Recommended' section of the Windows 11 Start menu. This is evident from screenshots of a test version of the operating system. The company would also like to show recommendations on the Windows 11 taskbar.

Screenshots shared by X user PhantomOcean3 show that the 'Recommended' section in the Start menu of a Windows 11 test version not only contains tips, files or frequently used applications, but also so-called 'app promotions'. It is not clear whether this concerns paid advertising for apps. The option could also be disabled again via the Settings menu.

Albacore, another X user, shared a screenshot showing that Microsoft would like to add a new button to the Windows 11 taskbar. According to the user, it is not yet entirely clear what exactly the button should be used for, but code from the Windows 11 test version would show that it is a 'Recommended' button. Microsoft has not yet announced such features.
