Disney+ will take measures against shared accounts from June

From June, Disney+ users will have to pay to share their accounts 'in some countries'. From September, the measure will apply to all countries in which the streaming service is available.

Disney had already said that it wanted to restrict account sharing from the summer, but no concrete time had yet been announced. In an interview with news channel CNBC, Disney CEO Bob Iger says that Disney+ will “start banning password sharing in June.” Then users have to pay extra for sharing their accounts outside their own household. The measure will first be introduced in 'a number of countries', before being applied in September to all markets where Disney+ is available.

It is not yet known when the measure will come into effect in the Netherlands and Belgium. The terms of use were amended in December and prohibit the sharing of login details with third parties. It is not yet clear how much users will have to pay to share their account. It is also still unknown how Disney+ users will control account sharing. It is possible that the service will check based on the IP address, just like competitor Netflix.
