There is a revolt within the Moderates against the new gender reassignment law, which Ulf Kristersson is said to be trying to push through at all costs.
But now the prime minister tells SVT that he personally does not want to lower the age for to change “legal sex” to 16 years in accordance with the proposal.
– I would have liked to see the 18-year-old limit myself and thus not involve parents in the matter, says Ulf Kristersson.
A continued 18-year-old limit was also the line of the moderate party leadership at the party meeting in 2023.
Despite this, the party leadership now demands that M's members of parliament vote through the bill, which was hammered out by the social committee on Thursday and is officially supported by all parties except SD and KD.
Johan Hultberg represents M in the social committee. Aftonbladet has asked him the direct question: “So the members are not allowed to vote as they feel on April 17?” is clear. We have a party line that we have been clear about before the election, that we want to make it easier to change the legal gender and we are now also doing that in this matter.
