Microsoft is said to be working on a version of its Copilot assistant for use in Xbox games. Gamers should be able to ask the assistant for help while playing. There are not many details yet.
The assistant should be on call while playing games to assist, writes The Verge. It is unknown whether the Copilot version could, for example, help with puzzles or defeating characters in the game. In addition, Microsoft is working on AI model-powered NPCs in games. This should, among other things, allow them to communicate with gamers in a more natural way.
The two initiatives are part of a broader push to integrate AI into Xbox, the site reports. Microsoft did not confirm Copilot in games and AI-powered NPCs, but did confirm that it is working on a chatbot for general support in the Xbox platform. This resembles the chatbots that are already active on many sites and services and draws on support pages for answers. Microsoft is testing this internally.
