Lenovo brand Motorola has announced the Edge 50 Pro. Just like its predecessor, this smartphone has a curved 6.7″ screen, but has a slightly lower SoC and slower storage. European availability and prices are not yet known.
The Motorola Edge 50 Pro will have a 6.7″ OLED screen with a resolution of 2712×1220 pixels and 144Hz refresh rate, writes GSMArena. This screen has a slightly higher resolution than that of the Edge 40 Pro from April 2023. The screen of the Edge 50 Pro supports HDR10+ and has a maximum brightness of 2000cd/m².
Where the Edge 40 Pro still had a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, the Edge 50 Pro gets the lower-positioned Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. The new phone also has a slower UFS 2.2 storage instead of the UFS 4.0 storage of the Edge 40 Pro. The smartphone is available with 128 or 256GB of storage, with 8 or 12GB of memory respectively.
At the rear, the Edge 50 Pro has three cameras, including a 50-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/1.4 and laser autofocus, and a telephoto camera with a 10-megapixel sensor, which can optically zoom in up to three times. That telephoto camera has optical image stabilization, which the predecessor did not have. There is also a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with autofocus. The smartphone can record in 4k at 30fps, or in 1080p at 240fps. On the front is a 50-megapixel camera with f/1.9 aperture.
The smartphone has a 4500mAh battery and can be charged with a maximum of 125W wired or 50W wirelessly. The phone supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 and USB-C Type 3.1. The phone measures 161.2×72.4×8.2mm, weighs 186g and has an IP68 certification. According to Android Authority, the phone costs 430 euros for 8/128GB and 484 euros for 12/256GB, including VAT.
