It is in a debate article in DN in which Bydén explains that “the cause of the Swedes” is no longer “just our own”, as expressed in the newspaper.

“The defense of Sweden begins at NATO's outer border. We are not a frontline state, but we will be at the front with units. This applies in peace – within the framework of NATO's deterrence – and it applies if NATO needs to move from deterrence to defence,” he writes.

ÖB also urges the politicians to introduce the autumn's defense decision make sure the Armed Forces get freedom of action.

“A rigidly operated defense decision that locks us in details serves neither national nor collective defense capability well”, writes Micael Bydén.
