Academy member Peter Englund announced the nomination at a ceremony in the Stock Exchange in Old Stockholm on Monday, sharing at the same time of the Swedish Academy's motivation, which reads:

“For having explained the grim reality of serious times to an as yet ignorant Swedish population with his exalted rhetorical genius and with patriotic calm.”

“Because I felt that this was part of the outcome room, I am surprised and happy that the jury has reasoned”, he writes and continues:< /p>

“Since I gave my speech in January, the positive reactions from the public have flowed into the government office, and the fact that I am now receiving recognition, even from the Swedish Academy, is extremely gratifying”.
