KPN will discontinue its subsidiary brand Ortel Mobile as of July 1, 2024. From that date, Ortel customers can no longer use their SIM card and the associated 06 number. KPN gives customers a one-time discount if they switch to Simyo, another KPN brand.
Ortel announces the discontinuation of the provider on its website. As of July 1, 2024, connections for Ortel customers will expire. From that date, their mobile number is no longer in use and the calling credit they have with the provider can no longer be used. The provider calls on customers to use up their calling credit before then.
Customers can switch to another provider while retaining their number. If they switch to Simyo, another KPN brand, they will receive a one-off five euro discount on a new prepaid connection, Ortel reports. No reason is given for discontinuing the provider.
