Mozilla has released Firefox 124. In this version, new options are available for sorting tabs within Firefox View. Caret Browsing mode has also been expanded, so that the mode now also functions in the PDF viewer.
According to Mozilla, Firefox 124 gives users more options to organize Firefox View. This page includes an overview of open tabs and recently closed tabs. In the new version of the browser, those tabs can be sorted based on recent activity or the order of the tabs in the web browser itself. Caret Browsing mode, which allows users to navigate web pages using their keyboard arrow keys, now also works when viewing PDF documents within the browser.
In Firefox 124, Mozilla has further added support for the Screen Wake Lock API. This allows users to prevent devices from dimming or locking the screen when not necessary. In addition, the Pull to Refresh feature is now set by default for Android users, allowing them to refresh pages by pulling them down. Firefox is also adding support for the HTML drag-and-drop API when using a mouse, allowing users to drag text or HTML text from other programs into the browser using the mouse.
For macOS users, Firefox now uses the fullscreen API by default for all windows that fill the screen. According to Mozilla, this better matches 'the expected macOS user experience' for full-screen spaces, the Menu Bar and the Dock. Users can disable this feature by setting 'full-screen-api.macos-native-full-screen' to 'false' in 'about:config'.
Firefox 124 does not include the Cookie Banner Blocker- feature, which is included in recent beta versions of Firefox. Users can thus automatically refuse cookie banners. Nor is the Quick Action feature, which allowed users to quickly perform various actions from the address bar.
