Intel releases 14th Gen i9-14900KS with 6.2GHz boost clock for $699

Intel announces the 14th Gen i9-14900KS for a suggested retail price of $699. The company is not yet announcing euro prices. The processor has a boost clock frequency of 6.2GHz and is compatible with Z690 and Z790 motherboards.

The Intel 14th Gen i9-14900KS is the top model of the brand's fourteenth generation of processors. The CPU contains 8 P-cores and 16 energy-efficient E-cores, with a total of 32 threads, just like the existing 14900K. The KS variant has base clocks of 3.2 and 2.4GHz with the P and E cores respectively.

As always, the S in the name of the processor stands for 'special edition' and refers to the higher maximum clock frequency; With the Thermal Velocity boost clock setting, Intel promises a maximum clock speed of 6.2GHz, which is roughly 200MHz more than the other 14900K models and the i9-13900KS released in early 2023. The standard TDP is also somewhat higher than other 14th Gen top models: 150 instead of 125W. The maximum TDP remains 253W.

Intel announced several 14th Gen processors starting in the fall of 2023. At first there were only a few K models and during CES 2024 in early January a variety of non-K CPUs, intended for 'mainstream PC users'. The 14th Gen i9-14900KS, like all other processors from this generation, offers official support for DDR5-5600 and DDR4-3600 RAM. The chip also has 16 PCIe 5.0 and 4 PCIe 4.0 lanes. Intel does not mention euro prices, but the CPU is listed for € 739 in the Pricewatch
