2,500 new police officers gave 0 more solved crimes

Even the crime prevention work went poorly during the year, but the work to prevent and investigate serious crimes linked to criminal networks has been successful according to the annual report, writes TT .

In the area of ​​internal alien checks, an almost doubling of the number of checks was seen – but without a corresponding increase in identified illegal immigrants, which remained basically unchanged compared to the previous year.

On however, improvements are visible in some areas.

For example, the percentage of solved fatal shootings in Stockholm increased from 16 to 70 percent, according to the new national police chief Petra Lundh.

The 2,500 additional police officers raised the total force to 37,359 employed police throughout the country.

In the area of ​​public order and security, the police report no noticeable change.

Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer (M) now wants to see improvements in the handling of more everyday crimes such as theft and beatings, as well as a shortening of the waiting times to reach the police contact centre.

Although the total percentage of police officers on external duty increased, their share in relation to the entire police force decreased during the year.

The number of police cameras rose from 535 to 859, with a target of 1,600 until the end of next year.

The police assess that the level of service to the public generally remained stagnant during the year.
