Microsoft will make security analysis version of Copilot widely available on April 1

Microsoft will release a security edition of AI assistant Copilot in April. Copilot for Security is intended for security researchers and professionals and is essentially a chatbot that can summarize incidents and provide information about them. The tool will have a pay-as-you-use model.

Microsoft already showed Copilot for Security a year ago and started a beta, but the company now says that the tool will be available to everyone on April 1 this year. Microsoft also says that the tool's pricing model is changing from the beta period and what users have come to expect from regular Copilot. Instead of a standard amount per month per user, administrators pay four dollars per hour for Copilot for Security. According to Microsoft, this makes it easier for companies to scale up quickly when necessary.

Copilot for Security is based on GPT-4 and is primarily a chatbot to which users can ask security-related questions. For example, the tool can summarize incidents and perform an impact analysis.

The tool can also analyze malware and help users take next steps. The big difference with existing chatbots is that Copilot for Security is specifically trained with data that Microsoft has collected. According to the company, this concerns 78 trillion 'daily security signals', but does not specify what exactly it means by this. Users can connect Copilot for Security to their own security products, so that the tool can perform analyzes on that data. Examples of these products are Defender, Sentinel and Entra, but integration with non-Microsoft products is also possible.

When the tool becomes finally available on April 1, it will also have a number of new functions that were previously available. could be used during the beta period. The tool will then support eight languages ​​for prompts. Dutch is not included, but the interface can be used in Dutch. Furthermore, it will be possible for other companies to build integrations to link to the tool and a dashboard will be available for administrators who can see how their team is using the tool.
