The YouTube TV app gets a new interface, allowing users to choose to reduce the size of the video and, for example, show comments next to it. Previously, those comments appeared as an overlay over the video. The new interface will be released in the coming weeks.
The new interface should provide a more interactive experience, where the user can shrink the video to make room to the right of the video for other content. For example, YouTube talks about being able to read video descriptions, comments, purchasing products shown in the video and seeing live scores at sports matches.
The platform says it has tested several new layouts , including interfaces where the interactive content was placed over the video, similar to the current interface. However, the video was less visible, while YouTube wants the video to always be watchable. That is why this new design was chosen. The new interface will be coming to the YouTube TV app in the coming weeks. YouTube is considering expanding the interface with other interactive features, such as live chat and multiview.
After clicking on the image, a gif of the new YouTube interface will appear.
