The next edition of the Dutch hacker event, previously called May Contain Hackers, will take place in Alkmaar in 2025 between August 8 and 12. Next year's event will be called What Hackers Yearn, or WHY. The program will follow.
The organization announces that What Hackers Yearn will take place again from Friday 8 to Tuesday 12 August 2025. The event takes place in the North Holland recreation area Geestmerambacht, near Alkmaar. Few details are currently known about the content of the event. On April 6, the organization's volunteers will meet for the first time to discuss this.
Next year's event will be called WHY, which stands for What Hackers Yearn. “This name fits perfectly with the inquisitive nature of hackers and their endless curiosity and eagerness to learn,” the organization tells Tweakers. The hacker camp is given such a nickname in every edition. Previously, Still Hacking Anyway and Observe. Hack. Make used.
WHY is a hacker conference that is organized every four years by a group of volunteers. The previous edition took place in Zeewolde in 2022, after the 2021 edition was cancelled.
Correction: the article initially stated that the event was called May Contain Hackers, but that was the name of the previous edition.
